Nov 2022 – Chinnor Railway trackbed walk

On Saturday 5th November 2022 a group of 20 RR members had a specially arranged visit to the Chinnor and Princes Risborough Railway (CPRR) heritage line. This Chilterns area event included an escorted track walk from Princes Risborough to Chinnor, lunch at Chinnor station, a tour of the Railway sidings and maintenance workshop, a heritage railcar trip back to Princess Risborough and the opportunity to visit to the under-restoration PR North signal box.

Our visit was arranged with two main purposes; to allow Railway Ramblers to walk a section of trackbed that is not usually accessible, and to raise funds for the Railway’s “Independent Line” appeal. Our group had a well-organised visit and got a good behind-the-scenes view of the Railway’s operation. If any other RR members wish to support the Chinnor and Princes Risborough Railway, more details can be found on their website. https://www.chinnorrailway.co.uk/product.php/376/can-you-help-complete-the-risborough-extension

The Chilterns group will be arranging a more-traditional RR walk along (or close beside) the rest of the branch from Chinnor to Watlington in 2023. (Neil Hebborn)
