The Yorkshire Branch claims another record – today’s walk must be the first railway ramble to have participating 50% gentlemen and 50% ladies! It was on our “West Coast Main Line” walk (the Manx Northern Railway actually, on the Isle of Man, from Glen Wyllin to St Johns). The attached was taken by Bill Jagger of the group at what was from 1883 to 1885 Poortown Station, renamed Peel Road Station, which closed in 1951. (Jane Ellis)
