Readers of this magazine will be aware of the restored station-cum-café at this ex-CKPR location. We had not reported a story involving the old Cockermouth Station benches which have been at the local bowling club since the station closed. When the Bassenthwaite Lake station owners were alerted to their departure and subsequent availability, within 48 hours they had been delivered to the station and are in the process of being restored, with the help of some volunteers, to the correct colours and condition to allow decades of future service.
