Jan 25 – Larpool Viaduct

I thought you may like the attached photo I took on 20th January, of maintenance men abseiling down Larpool Viaduct, Whitby with hammers to dislodge large chunks of loose masonry. Not a job I’d like on a cold, damp January day! Presumably this is funded by Sustrans, who own this Grade 2 listed structure which carries the former Whitby – Scarborough line. It’s also an integral part of the Dover to Thurso East Coast cycle path.
